I recently went fishing for reds in Nueces Bay (Corpus Christi, Texas) with two friends in August. I was invited down and told to bring nothing but my license. I had seen these holographic baits at the store on several occasions but knew of no one who had tried them. I bought a bag of the Tsunami 4" mullet swimming shads on a whim. Once there, they had me rigged up with sand eels, plum/chartreuse tail, on jig heads. One buddy caught two nice reds (23-1/2 and 24-1/2) and I lost one. The jigs were light, it was windy, and I pulled out the Tsunami lures. Since we were fishing in fairly shallow water, I was told it was too heavy and my reponse was "I guess I will have to reel a little bit faster". Curious, I dropped it over the side after tying one on and we noticed how it "swam" along side the boat as we were trolling along ... the tail was really working. One buddy commented on the sharpness of the hook and said it should "set itself". I was now able to cast much further than my partners and on the third cast to a line of water being pushed our way, I hooked into a really nice red, measuring 27". It was the big one of the day, with our fourth red measuring 25". I left the bag of lures with my buddies and am waiting to hear some stories.
